Madde Yanıt Kuramıyla A Erteleme Ölçeğinin Geliştirilmesi ve Psikometrik Özelliklerinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

Ertelemeyi değerlendirmeye yönelik ölçme araçları bulunmasına karşın ilgili çalışmaların çoğunlukla akademik erteleme üzerinde yoğunlaştığı ve olgunun ölçülmesinde kullanılan mevcut ölçeklerin akademik ertelemeyi değerlendirmeye yönelik olduğu görülmektedir. Genel örneklemde erteleme davranışını değerlendirmeye yönelik alternatif ölçeklerin yetersiz olması nedeniyle bu çalışmada erteleme davranışı düzeyini ölçmeye yönelik bir ölçeğin geliştirilmesi ve hedef ölçeğin temel psikometrik özeliklerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda iki çalışma yürütülmüştür. Birinci çalışmada ilgili kaynaklardan faydalanılarak 77 madde hazırlanmış ve 18-61 yaşları arasında 165 kadın, 344 erkek olmak üzere toplam 509 kişiye uygulanmıştır. Birinci çalışmadan elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda madde havuzu gözden geçirilmiş ve madde sayısı artırılarak 120’ye çıkarılmıştır. İkinci çalışmaya 17-83 yaşları arasında 1065 kadın, 806 erkek olmak üzere toplam 1871 kişi katılmıştır. Bu çalışmada Madde Yanıt Kuramı kullanılarak 20 madde seçilmiş ve oluşturulan form A Erteleme Ölçeği olarak isimlendirilmiştir. Geliştirilen ölçeğin bütünü için iç tutarlılık güvenirlik katsayısı asıl uygulamada 0,94, bir hafta sonraki uygulamada 0,92, iki hafta sonraki uygulamada 0,93 olarak belirlenmiştir. Ölçeğin bir ve iki hafta arayla yürütülen test-tekrar test uygulamalarındaki korelasyon katsayıları da 0,80 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Çalışmada, Melbourne Karar Verme Ölçeği I-II ve Beş Faktör Kişilik Envanteri uzun formu kriter bağıntılı geçerlilik çalışması için A Erteleme Ölçeği ile birlikte uygulanmıştır. Geliştirilen ölçeğin, Beş Faktör Kişilik Modeli’nde yer alan Öz-Denetim / Sorumluluk faktörü ile -0,63 korelasyon katsayısı gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Melbourne Karar Verme Ölçeği’nin alt boyutları ile geliştirilen ölçek arasında ise 0,23 ile 0,43 değişen düzeyde korelasyonlar elde edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlara göre başka geçerlik çalışmalarına ihtiyaç duyulsa da geliştirilen ölçeğin temel test gerekliliklerini büyük oranda karşıladığı anlaşılmıştır.

Abstract

Although there are several measures to assess procrastination, most of the research has focused on academic domain and the preponderance of available measures is centered on academic procrastination. Due to the notable paucity of alternative measures for general population, this study aimed to develop a procrastination scale and examine its basic psychometric properties. For this purpose, two studies were conducted. In the first study, 77 items was prepared in accordance with the related studies, and administered to 165 female and 344 male participants, a total of 509 people ranging in age between 18 and 65. Based on the findings from the preliminary study, the item pool was subsequently reevaluated in order to enhance its coverage and the initial number was raised to 120 by including new items. The second study was conducted with 1065 female and 806 male participants, a total of 1871 people between the ages of 17 and 83. In the second study, 20 items were selected using the Item Response Theory, and the latest version of the form was named as A Procrastination Scale. Cronbach Alfa internal consistency reliability coefficient for the scale was computed 0.94 in the main application, 0.92 a week later, and 0.93 two weeks later. Correlation coefficient among the test-retest administrations with one and two weeks of intervals was determined 0.80. In order to examine the criterion related validity, Melbourne Decision Making Questionnaire I-II and the Five Factor Personality Inventory were applied alongwith the A Procrastination Scale. Correlation coefficient of -0.63 was determined for the Conscientiousness factor of the Five Factor Model of Personality. In addition, it was observed that correlations ranged between 0.23 and 0.43 for the subscale scores of the Melbourne Decision Making Questionnaire. Although the need for further validity studies, initial results shows that the scale met the basic psychometric requirements.
