TURİZMDE KADIN İSTİHDAMI: KADIN TURİST REHBERLERİNİN GÜNÜBİRLİK TURLARI TERCİH ETMESİ ÜZERİNE BİR ÇALIŞMA

Abstract
Doğal güzellikleri ve tarihi alanları bakımından zengin olan Türkiye’de en fazla önem taşıyan sektörlerden biri şüphesiz turizm sektörüdür. Ülke ekonomisine katkısı ve sağladığı istihdam açısından da bu sektör günden güne büyümekte ve gelişmektedir. Turizm sektörü söz konusu olduğunda, mesleklerin daha çok tatil yerlerinde uygulanabilmesi, çok çeşitli iş kolları, yüksek eğitim seviyesi şartı aranmaması ve diğer sektörlere nazaran daha serbest çalışma saatleri barındırması gibi avantajları nedeniyle bu alanda çalışmayı tercih eden kişi sayısı gün geçtikçe artmaktadır. Kadınlar da bu avantajlar nedeniyle turizm sektöründe oldukça yüksek sayıda istihdam edilmektedir. Türkiye’de kadın istihdam istatistiğinin en yüksek olduğu sektör, turizm sektörüdür. Diğer sektörlerde olduğu gibi turizm sektöründe çalışanlar da birçok zorlukla karşılaşmaktadır. Özellikle çalışma saatlerinin fazla oluşu, düşük ücretler ve işlerin sezonluk olması bu zorluklar arasında sayılabilir. Bu zorlukların yanında, bu sektörde çalışan kadınlar toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine dayalı sorunlar nedeniyle meslek ve özel hayatlarında da ek zorluklarla karşılaşmaktadır. Çalışmanın evrenini Türkiye’de faaliyet gösteren kadın turist rehberleri oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmanın amacı, kadın turist rehberlerinin günübirlik turları tercih etmesinin altında yatan nedenleri, meslek ve özel hayatlarında yaşadığı zorlukları ve bu zorlukların sonuçlarını incelemektir. Çalışmada, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Çalışmaya katılan kadın tur rehberleri, mesleklerinin olumlu getirilerinin de olduğunu ancak bunun yanı sıra yalnızca cinsiyetlerinden kaynaklı sorunlarla uğraşmak zorunda kaldıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Bu sorunların büyük çoğunluğunu sözlü ve fiziksel taciz oluşturmaktadır.

Abstract
Tourism is undoubtedly one of the most important industries in Turkey, a country rich in natural beauty and historical sites. In terms of its contribution to the economy of country and the employment it provides, this industry is growing and developing day by day. When it comes to the tourism industry, the number of people who prefer to work in this field is growing due to advantages such as the fact that professions in the industry can be practiced in vacation destinations, a wide variety of branch activities, no higher education level is required, and more flexible working hours when compared to other industries. Women are employed in large numbers in the tourism industry as a result of these advantages. Tourism is the industry in Turkey with the highest female employment statistics. Those working in the tourism industry, like those in other industries, face a number of problems. Among these problems are long working hours, low wages, and the seasonal work. In addition to these issues, women working in this industry face additional problems in both their professional and personal lives as a result of gender roles. The study universe consists of female tour guides working in Turkey. The aim of the study is to investigate the reasons why female tourist guides prefer daily tours, the problems they face in their professional and personal lives, and the consequences of these problems. The semi-structured interview technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. Female tour guides who participated in the study stated that their profession had positive returns as well, but they also had to deal with issues that arising from their gender. The vast majority of these issues are related to verbal and physical abuse.
