Abstract
Günümüz toplumsal düzenin işleyişinde en büyük sorunlarından bir tanesini de suç olayları oluşturmaktadır. Suç olgusu birçok değişken faktör altında meydana gelmekte. Dolayısıyla bu konu birçok bilim dalının ilgisini çekmektedir. Ancak mekânda sosyo-ekonomik faaliyetlerinde etkisiyle ortaya çıkması ve dağılışı yapılabilmesi yönüyle suç, coğrafyanın da araştırma konuları arasında yer almaktadır. Bu araştırma Ülkemizde yapılan suç coğrafyası çalışmalarında elde edilen birtakım genellemelerin dışındaki bazı tespitleri ortaya koyması bakımından önemlidir. Suç coğrafyası çalışmalarında, genel bir hipotez olarak nüfusun fazla olduğu yerleşim birimlerinde suç sayısı da fazladır yaklaşımı hâkimdir. Ancak, bu çalışmada elde edilen farklı bulguların alan yazına önemli bir katkı sunacağı düşünülmektedir. Bu çalışmada, Araç İlçe Merkezi’nde 2016-2018 yılları arasındaki suçların zaman ve mekândaki dağılışı yapılarak bu dağılış üzerine etki eden coğrafi faktörler üzerinde durulmuştur. Çalışmada ayrıca, İlçe Merkezindeki suçlar genel suç sayıları üzerinden değerlendirilerek suç coğrafyası kapsamında genel çalışma özelliği gösteren bir anlayışla değerlendirilmiştir. Yörede elde edilen veriler neticesinde suçun mahalle bazında dağılış haritaları elde edilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra, yörede suçun günlük ve haftalık dağılımları için grafikler hazırlanmış ve haritalar eşliğinde çeşitli bulgulara ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre mekânın suça kaynaklık eden çekici ve sıcak noktaları tespit edilerek anlamlı verilere ulaşılmıştır. Bu veriler neticesinde inceleme sahası olan Araç İlçe Merkezi’nde suç olaylarının genel özellikleri ve sebepleri, coğrafi bakış açısıyla değerlendirilip suçun önlenmesi ya da azaltılmasına yönelik bazı tespit ve önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

Abstract
Crime constitutes one of the major problems in the operational mechanism of today’s social order. The phenomenon of crime occurs under many variable factors. As a result, this subject attracts the attention of many disciplines. However, crime is available among the research topics of geography in terms of its emergence and distribution with the effect of socio-economic activities in the outer space. The present study is significant in terms of identifying some particular findings other than some generalizations obtained in crime geography studies in our country. In the crime geography studies, as a general hypothesis, the approach that ‘the number of crime is high in the settlements with high population’ is dominant. However, it is believed that the different findings obtained in this study will make significant contributions to the relevant literature. In this study, time and place distribution of the crimes committed between 2016 and 2018 in the Araç District Center was made and the geographical factors affecting this distribution were emphasized. In the study, the crimes in the District Center were evaluated on the basis of the general crime numbers and evaluated with an understanding that demonstrated a general study feature within the scope of the crime geography. As a result of the data obtained in the region, distribution maps of the crime were obtained on the basis of the immediate neighborhood. Furthermore, graphics were prepared for the daily and weekly distribution of the crime in the region, and various findings were obtained with the help of maps. Based on the findings obtained, the magnetic and hot spots of the outer space that generated the crimes were determined and meaningful data were obtained. As a result of these data, the general characteristics and causes of crime incidents in the Araç District Center, which is the field of investigation, were evaluated from a geographical perspective, and some proposals and suggestions were made for the prevention or reduction of crime.
