Environmental Sustainability through Intelligent Transportation System for Traffic Management in the Smart Cities

Congestion, hazardous driving, and stormy weather can all cause public transportation delays in urban areas, making life difficult for those who rely on it. Decision-makers in the public transportation sector are starting to think about their customers' resilience and the speed with which they can restore regular service. Few studies have been undertaken in recent years on the reliability of urban rail networks, and those have barely scratched the surface of the issue. The automobile industry and its researchers and manufacturers have prioritized several goals, including reducing production costs, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, improving driver comfort, and reducing trip times. If vehicles could exchange information with one another, it would have far-reaching implications for the transportation and security sectors. Professionals in each field may have varying objectives, making settling on an ordinary course of action difficult. Involvement and contributions from citizens benefit the city and individual neighbourhoods. A city's economic health, environmental health, transportation network, healthcare system, and educational opportunities are all directly influenced by this endeavour. Considering these many considerations, multiple groups have proposed solutions to the problem. The "smart city" movement in urban planning views cities as living, breathing ecosystems. People use various services and tools to facilitate their daily lives across multiple models in space and time. Multiscale modeling offers many opportunities and limits for advancing smart city research due to the enormous diversity of complex systems in smart cities. In addition to making systems much more reliable, these technologies or upgrades to the city's current ITS infrastructure can save a lot of money and make things run much more smoothly.

Researchers who contribute to the development of the sports industry and are expected to expand the knowledge in the relevant field by adding new information to the sports sciences literature should include the sports management programs of vocational schools that train professionals for the sports sector as a sample group according to the purpose, scope and structure of their research, and higher education programs that train professionals for the sports industry should be included in their studies. It is important to include all levels of institutions in relevant research. In this study, academic research in the field of sports sciences, in which sports management programs providing associate degree education at vocational schools were selected as the sample group, aimed at training qualified professional staff to meet the needs in the sector, were examined. In the research, a literature review was conducted and studies on vocational school sports management programs were searched in Google Scholar, Dergipark and YÖK Thesis databases. As a result, it has been concluded that in the research conducted in the field of sports sciences, very little space has been given to sports management programs that train professional personnel for the sector as associate degree programs, and these programs have not been sufficiently included in the research as a sample group. Researchers who contribute to the development of the sports industry and are expected to expand the knowledge in the relevant field by adding new information to the sports sciences literature should include vocational school sports management programs that train professional staff for the sports sector as a sample group in their studies according to the purpose, scope and structure of their research.

Health institutions are areas where women work intensively. However, despite the fact that women are actively working in business life, the concept of glass ceiling continues today. In this context; The aim of the study is to determine the relationship between assuming multiple role models and glass ceiling syndrome in women working in health institutions. The face-to-face survey method was used in the research and the women working in a training and research hospital constitute the research population. Convenience sampling method was preferred as the sampling method. The sample consists of 250 female employees who agreed to participate in the research. The survey questions of the research consist of three parts. The first part includes demographic characteristics. In the second part, the statements of assuming multiple role models are included, and the related items are created by benefiting from the study of Karaca (2007). The last part consists of the "Glass Ceiling Syndrome" scale used by Saroğlu (2018) in the scale adaptation study. As a result of the research, the tendency of women to assume glass ceiling syndrome and multiple role models was low. The tendency to assume multiple role models affects the glass ceiling syndrome. Multiple role modeling explains 0.21% of the total variance of glass ceiling syndrome and increases glass ceiling syndrome by 0.465 times. Women who have a high tendency to assume multiple role models also have a high rate of acceptance of the glass ceiling. In the light of the research results; It can be said that the effect of the glass ceiling has decreased in the field of health services, and the glass ceiling syndrome has been affected from the point of view of women.

In this study, the attitudes of classroom teachers towards unionization and their expectations from unions were investigated using a qualitative research method known as the case study design. Accordingly, 56 classroom teachers working in state schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in the Batman province during the 2022-2023 academic year were interviewed. Participants were informed that the information shared during the interviews would be used solely for scientific purposes and their identities would be kept confidential. A neutral approach was adopted in collecting data, and a safe and quiet environment was provided for participants to freely express their opinions. Researchers used a semi-structured interview form they developed to collect data in the study. Analysis was conducted based on categories and themes using the content analysis method. The study found that classroom teachers held more positive views towards unionization, had more reasons to become union members, and that factors influencing union choice were primarily related to political/ideological harmony. It was observed that teachers' expectations from unions were mainly related to professional rights. Teachers also expressed that unions were inadequate in fostering a sense of belonging and developing professional consciousness. There was a negative perception among teachers regarding the relationship between unions and political institutions. Additionally, there were expectations for innovative and solution-oriented approaches to educational issues and improvements in teachers' working conditions. This study is significant in revealing teachers' attitudes towards organization and their expectations from unions. Therefore, understanding teachers' attitudes towards unions and their expectations is essential for unions, union leaders, and teachers themselves.

<table>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td>
In Heybeliada, at <em>Çam Limanı</em>, the word "halki," meaning "copper" in Greek, is derived from the mixed copper and iron deposits there. Over the ancient times, Çam Limanı has taken on the shape of a crescent moon through excavation, resembling a 'satchel' left on the ground, which gradually led to the name Heybeliada. Bronze, an alloy made from copper, holds symbolic significance at the Heybeliada Greek Orthodox Seminary and carries symbolic value in the form of a bronze fishbone. In her two compositions titled "Fishbone III-IV," Hera Büyüktaşçıyan reveals the solidified past entangled in the net of time, comprised of memory fragments that accumulate from the depths and are added daily. The fishbone sometimes breaks away from the edge of the wild waves, being carried far away, and at other times, it accumulates the weight of history and sticks to the surface of bodies and objects. Here, the fish's stomach is its "nest," and this is the memory of the sea; it breathes its air, drinking from its water, bringing together its soul and memory in the fishbone. Meanwhile, those wounded in the throat suffer from the pain of being unable to express themselves. This Bronze Fishbone, located in the school, is not only in the Study Room but stands atop the desks of the first, second, and third classes. The fishbone is the trace of collective memory and carries habits that should be acquired in childhood to the "nest," drawing them towards oneself. That is why this place was built as a boarding school. All habits are in the nest like the fishbone; the nest is the school, and the school is the nest. This is actually the way to maintain balance in an environment where identity is accepted. Because the individual is born and developed within the community. When habits turn into a set, they have taken their place in the area where memory is accustomed. The importance of collective memory in knowledge and thought practice is shaped by the truth knowledge loaded into memory in childhood. This text depicts the deep meaning carried by the Bronze Fishbone symbol located atop the desks in the Study Room of Heybeliada Greek Orthodox Seminary.

Climate change, which has gained importance since the 1980s, has become a global issue today and appears as a dynamic issue on which the search for solutions is focused. International meetings and agreements have determined the steps taken to combat climate change; Binding decisions have been taken between countries, especially regarding carbon emissions. Countries have begun to implement policies appropriate to their internal dynamics in accordance with their responsibilities arising from these meetings. One of the policies implemented to reduce environmental pollution is environmental taxes. Because environmental pollution, which is directly linked to climate change, is tried to be resolved through environmental taxes. In this study, it is discussed whether environmental taxes are an alternative as a public policy towards climate change. The main purpose of the research is to evaluate the impact of the implementation of environmental taxes on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions through panel data analysis covering a wide date range and different countries. Carbon dioxide emissions were used as the dependent variable in the study, and the independent variables were determined as environmental taxes, renewable energy and Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Data of OECD countries between 1994 and 2019 were examined and various statistical tests were applied in the empirical analysis. According to the results of the analysis, it has been determined that every one percent increase in renewable energy reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 11.2%, and every one percent increase in GDP increases carbon dioxide emissions by 44%. Additionally, it has been determined that every one percent increase in environmental taxes reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 4%. These data reveal that the implementation of environmental taxes as an alternative public policy to the climate change problem can produce positive environmental results.

Value is a phenomenon that reveals the ties that extend to the roots of a society and makes individuals feel a sense of belonging in the society. The internal control mechanism of societies becomes functional through values. The norms of social life and the ways they reflect on life are guided by values. It directs individuals to behave within the framework of these norms. The values that have guided life from past to present are also addressed in educational processes. Although it is essential to transfer values to students by incorporating them into the content of almost every course, courses such as Social Studies, Life Science and Turkish courses have a more advantageous position due to the suitability of their contents. This study aims to determine the general trends of studies on values education in Social Studies and Life Sciences courses in Turkey. Master's and doctoral theses registered in the "National Thesis Center" of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) were included in the research. In the detailed examination, 32 postgraduate theses investigating values education within the scope of Social Studies and Life Sciences courses between 2008 and 2023 were found. The keywords Social Studies, Life Sciences, Values, Values Education were used in the thesis scanning. The determined theses were evaluated through document analysis according to the variables of research year, thesis type, relevant course, selected sample, distribution according to universities, research method used, data collection tools and data analysis methods. The data obtained as a result of the content analysis was explained with percentage and frequency values. It was determined that the most theses related to values education between 2008-2023 belonged to the years 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2023 (<em>f </em>= 4), and were mainly made at the master's level (<em>f</em> = 27) and social studies education (<em>f </em>= 26). The most preferred sample group of teachers (<em>f </em>= 16), the number of theses made at Necmettin Erbakan and Sakarya Universities is higher than the others (<em>f </em>= 3), the most used research method is the qualitative method (<em>f </em>= 22), and it is the most used data collection tool. It was concluded that the semi-structured interview form was preferred (<em>f </em>= 21) and the data obtained was mainly analyzed using the content analysis method (<em>f</em> = 24).
