Abstract

The problems faced by women in patriarchal societies arise as a result of negative discrimination based on gender. Gender roles are presented as a reflection of patriarchal organizations in the cinema that mirrors the society. In this sense, women's struggle for existence turns into a political struggle and women fight against masculine mentality in order to gain their individual identity in every field. Negative discrimination suffered by women continues to exist in major events that concern the society as well as in daily life. The labor migration that started to take place from Turkey to Germany in 1961 is one of the examples of this issue. The migration adventure of the Turkish people has led to intercultural interaction and changes in the family structure. Cinema, which was not indifferent to this change, talked about the problems of the workers who went to Germany and their families.
