Abstract
Şiddet, yaşamın her yanında ortaya çıkabilen ve yaygın bir problemdir. Şiddet davranışlarının ortadan kaldırılabilmesi için, şiddet farkındalığının geliştirilmesi ve kökeninin belirlenmesi gerekir. Bu araştırmanın amacı; ilköğretim ikinci kademe öğrencilerinin şiddet eğilimlerini, şiddet davranışı gösterme şekillerini ve şiddete yönelik farkındalıklarını ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda hazırlanan anket, 2007 – 2008 Eğitim – Öğretim yılı 2. dönem Nisan ayında Kocaeli ili Gebze ilçesi Beylikbağı mahallesinde bulunan 5 ilköğretim okulunun 6.,7. ve 8. sınıflardaki 400 kişilik öğrenci grubuna uygulanmıştır. Anket sonucu elde edilen verilerin analizi SPSS 15 paket programında bilgisayar ortamında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öğrencilere uygulanan anketin değerlendirilmesinde frekans ve yüzde istatistiklerinden yararlanılmıştır. Bu amaçla gerçekleştirilen çalışma sonucunda öğrencilerin okulda, ev ortamnına göre daha fazla fiziksel ve sözel şiddete maruz kaldıkları, aile içinde en fazla fiziksel şiddet uygulayan kişinin “baba” olduğu, en fazla sözel şiddet uygulayan kişinin ise “anne” olduğu, okulda en fazla fiziksel şiddet uygulayan kişinin çok yakın değerlerle “önce arkadaşlar ve sonra öğretmen” olduğu, en fazla sözel şiddet uygulayan grubun ise “arkadaşlar” olduğu ifade edilmiştir. Şiddet davranışları incelendiğinde; hem aile içinde hem de okulda en çok maruz kalınan fiziksel şiddet davranışı “tokat atma” en çok maruz kalınan sözel şiddet davranışı ise “bağırma” olarak belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin yaklaşık yarısı (%51,5) okul çevresinde akran zorbalığına şahit olduğunu ifade etmektedir. Öğrencilerin birbirine uyguladığı şiddetin sebebi olarak en fazla “kendini ispatlama” görüşü, okulda şiddet olaylarının gerçekleşme sebebi olarak ise “arkadaş ortamının düzensizliği” görüşü hakimdir. Öğrencilerin okulda gerçekleşen şiddetin nedenlerine yönelik en yüksek frekanslı görüşleri ise; kendi uyguladıkları şiddet davranışlarını fiziksel şiddet türünde “arkadaşlarımı iterim” ifadesi, sözel şiddet türünde “arkadaşlarımı sevmedikleri isimlerle çağırırım.” ifadesi, şiddet durumları karşısındaki tutumunu, “hoşuma gitmeyen bir olay karşısında hemen sinirlenirim” ifadesi olarak belirlenmiştir.

The purpose of this research; The aim of this study is to reveal the violence tendencies of the secondary school students, the way they show violent behavior and their views on violence. The survey, which was prepared for this purpose, was carried out in the 6th, 7th grades of 5 primary schools in Beylikbağı neighborhood of Kocaeli province Gebze district in April of the 2007 - 2008 academic year. It was applied to a group of 400 students in 8th and 8th grades. The analysis of the data obtained as a result of the survey was carried out in the computer environment with the SPSS 15 package program. Frequency and percentage statistics were used in the evaluation of the questionnaire applied to the students. As a result of the study carried out for this purpose, students are exposed to more physical and verbal violence at school than at home, the person who perpetrates physical violence the most in the family is "father", the person who perpetrates verbal violence the most is "mother". It was stated that the person who applied it was "friends first and then the teacher" with very close values, and the group that used verbal violence the most was "friends". When violent behaviors are examined; The physical violence behavior that is most exposed both in the family and at school was determined as "slapping" and the most exposed verbal violence behavior was "yelling". About half of the students (51.5%) state that they have witnessed peer bullying in the school environment. The view of "proving oneself" is dominant as the reason for violence against each other by students, and the view of "disorder of the friend environment" is dominant as the reason for violent incidents at school. The highest frequency views of students on the causes of violence at school are; The expression "I push my friends" in the type of physical violence, "I call my friends by names they do not like" in the type of verbal violence. The expression "I get angry immediately in the face of an event that I don't like" has been determined as the expression of his attitude towards violence.
