Abstract
Ahmet Haşim, Abdülhak Şinasi Hisar, Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu, Orhan Seyfi Orhon gibi değerli edebiyatçılarımızın çeşitli değerlendirme yazılarında eserleri, dili ve üslubu üzerinde fikir beyanında bulundukları Ali Zeki Bey, edebiyatımızın ihmal edilmiş, unutulmuş yazarlarından biridir. Çalışmamızla birlikte yazarın gazete tefrikasında kalmış bir romanını edebiyat dünyasına tanıtmayı amaçladık. Diğer yandan yazarın tanıttığımız romanını kitap olarak neşredilmiş romanı Alev’le karşılaştırarak yazarın romancılığı üzerine de değerlendirmede bulunmaya çalıştık. İki yönlü bir aşk hikâyesi çerçevesinde bir harp hikâyesinin de ele alındığı, kurgusunun merkezinde aşkın mahiyetine de göndermenin yapıldığı Duman romanında alafranga yaşam tarzının aile hayatına etkileri ve dönemin koşulları canlı sahnelerle ortaya konulmuştur. Bireysel ve toplumsal yozlaşmanın insan ilişkilerine etkilerinin de izlenebildiği eserde ayrıca savaş atmosferi de başarılı bir şekilde yansıtılmıştır. Duman romanı kendi dönemi içinde değerlendirildiğinde dönemin atmosferini yansıtma, anlatım tekniklerini yerinde kullanma, karakter geliştirme, vaka ve temanın işlenişi hususlarında başarılı bir çalışmanın ortaya konulduğu görülmüştür.

Abstract
Ali Zeki Bey is one of the neglected and forgotten writers of our literature, whose works, language and style have been expressed in various reviews by our valuable writers such as Ahmet Haşim, Abdülhak Şinasi Hisar, Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu, Orhan Seyfi Orhon. With our study, we aimed to introduce a novel of the author, which only remained in the newspaper serial, to the world of literature. On the other hand, we tried to evaluate the author's novel writing by comparing the novel, which we introduced in the study, with his novel Alev, which was published as a book. The effects of the European lifestyle on family life and the conditions of the period are revealed with lively scenes in the novel Duman, in which a war story is also portrayed within the framework of a two-way love story and a reference to the nature of love is at the centre of its fiction. In the work, in which the effects of individual and social corruption on human relations can be observed, the atmosphere of war is also successfully reflected. When the novel Duman was evaluated in its own period, it was concluded that a successful study was put forward in terms of reflecting the atmosphere of the period, using the narrative techniques appropriately, developing the character, handling the case and the theme.
