Değerli Metallerin Sosyal/Siyasal/Ekonomik Olaylarla İlişkisinin N-gram Yöntemi İle Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract
Bu çalışmada hem toplumların kalkınmasında önemli yeri olan hem de ekonomik değeri yanında toplumsal ve siyasal etki ve öneminin de bulunması nedeniyle altın, gümüş gibi değerli metaller ele alınmış ve bu metallerin n-gram analizi yapılarak son 250 yıllık dönemin sosyal, siyasal, ekonomik olaylarıyla ilişkileri irdelenmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında Google’ın hazırladığı arayüz kullanılarak Ekim 2019 döneminde n-gram analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tarama Google books veri tabanına kayıtlı olan 1750-2018 yılları arasına ait eserler kapsamında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Dil olarak İngilizce; yumuşatma faktörü olarak ise 3 seçilmiştir. Elde edilen n-gram verileri, incelenen dönemdeki toplumsal, siyasal ve ekonomik olaylarla karşılaştırılmıştır. Altın, gümüş ve değerli metal kavramları kullanılarak yapılan n-gram analizi çalışmasının sonucunda, 1750’lerden sonra 1900’lü yılların başlarına kadar bir yükseliş trendinin olduğu görülmüştür. Bahse konu tarihler ABD’nin siyasal hayatta aktif rolünün arttığı döneme denk gelmekte olup, sömürgecilik/emperyalizm faaliyetlerinin de zirve yaptığı dönemlerdir. Dünyanın yeniden şekillendiği 1900’lü yıllar ve sonrasında ise düşme trendi gözlenmiştir. Grafikteki 1900-2000 yılları arasındaki dalgalanmaların ufak sapmalarla birlikte ilgili dönemde yaşanan siyasal, askeri, toplumsal ve ekonomik olaylarla paralellik gösterdiği görülmüştür. Dolayısıyla n-gram analizi ile toplumda önemli bir işleve sahip altın/gümüş ve ilişkili kavramların kullanım sıklığı arasında doğrusal bir ilişki saptanmıştır.

Abstract
In this study, precious metals such as gold and silver have been taken into consideration because of their social and political influence and importance as well as their economic value, which have an important place in the development of societies, and the relations of these metals with the social, political and economic events of the last 250 years have been examined. In the scope of the study, n-gram analysis was performed in October 2019 using the interface prepared by Google. The research was carried out within the scope of the works belonging to the years 1750-2018 registered in the Google books database. English was chosen as the language and 3 was chosen as the smoothing factor. The obtained n-gram data were compared with the social, political and economic events in the period studied. As a result of the n-gram analysis study using the concepts of gold, silver and precious metal, an upward trend was observed after the 1750s until the early 1900s. These dates coincide with the period in which the active role of the US in political life increased and the peak of colonialism / imperialism activities. In the 1900s when the world was reshaped and a downward trend was observed. It is seen that the fluctuations between the years 1900-2000 in the graph are in line with the political, military, social and economic events experienced in the related period. Therefore, a linear relationship was found between n-gram analysis and frequency of use of gold / silver and related concepts, which have an important function in society.
