Abstract

Since its establishment, the Ottoman Empire had political, military, economic and cultural relations with other states. Russia was one of the major rivals of the neighboring empire which determined the western direction of the policy of conquest.

The 15 th century set the momentum for further development of the political and cultural relations between two countries. Throughout 16th and 17th centuries, the Ottoman Empire was maintaining its superiority as a result of progression, which compared to Russia, was reflected in the results of successful wars and treaties. However, in the 18th century and onwards, as the Ottoman Empire entered a period of political and cultural stagnation, the old power and authority began to weaken. This resulted in a political intrigue and tensions which gave rise to ceaseless wars between the Ottomans and Russians.

The purpose of this study is to show how political, military, and diplomatic relations between the two countries developed in the history of the Ottoman Empire from the 15th century to the 19th century. Russian Russian language research is aimed, in particular, at examining Russian-Turkish relations from the point of view of politics during the reign of the Ottoman Empire, at revealing the events taking place in history and, finally, at providing an objective assessment of the historical events of Turkey for the peoples living on the territory of the Russian state.
