Abstract

Abstract

Visual culture underwent changes in the modern and postmodern periods. To understand these changes, one should benefit from the ideas of philosophers. This way we can understand the changes better. Cinema is a productive field for visual culture studies. Cinema is known as the most powerful and dynamic visual expression tool that reflects the era. The visuality of artistic or commercial cinema movies or TV movies are fields that are worth studying. Visual tools have a significant place in understanding and expressing today’s world. This study aims to understand postmodernity, and assess its visual culture using an example movie. Works in the postmodern period have been heavily criticized as it used old and was detached from a single reality. Some philosophers recognize postmodernity as a distinct new period. The description of postmodernity hardens due to the abundance of this kind of criticism. This study aims to explain this pluralistic approach using philosophy and sociology whenever possible. It assesses postmodernity with intense visual usage in visual culture studies.
