Abstract

Abstract

One of the major sources of atmospheric pollutants are cars and trucks. 570 thousand of cars are registered in Almaty. 170 thousand of cars are daily come and leave the city. Of these, about 10,500 vehicles are in a state of the round the clock movement and their engines operate for 5,250 hours. During the day, 13,125 litres of fuel are combusted, and 39,375 litres of oxygen is consumed for this. 882-885 people can breath this oxygen during the year. In the course of the photosynthesis process, one mature oak tree can produce oxygen than can be breathed by 40-45 people, oxygen produced by juniper can be breathed by 20-25 people during the year. Furthermore, oak neutralizes 30-40 tons, and juniper - 15-20 tons of dust and harmful gases. Therefore, these trees should be grown in the city in large quantities. They can be grown in the houses, on a balcony, in offices, in the classrooms of universities, and in schools.
