Abstract

Abstract

Pain, which is a physical and mental problem, can lead to serious economic, psychological and social problems due to its nature. It is inevitable that women, who are more and more involved in working life, are exposed to physical and psychological risks that cause pain complaints due to their responsibilities in business and social life. The aim of this study is to measure the pain symptoms and pain severity perception of women in working life and to investigate differences according to occupational groups. The Visuel Pain Scale (VAS) is used to measure of perception levels of pain severity. Workers were asked to mark the point where they felt their pain on a horizontal line in the range from 0 to 10 cm and recorded the mark of the distance from 0 point. In 137 people of 206 people in the study have complain of pain, health workers have the highest level of pain among women who complain of pain (51.10%), there was a difference between the occupational groups and pain complaint and this difference was statistically significant (p <0.05). Perception levels of pain severity was found as 5.98 (0-10) in health workers, 5.91 (0-10) in workers, 5.35 (0-10) in teachers, 5.13 (0-10) in civil servants. There was no statistically significant difference between the occupational groups and perception levels of pain severity (p> 0.05).
