Abstract


Investigation of Authentic Leadership Perceptions of Public Hospital Employees in Terms of Socio-Demographic Variables

This study was implemented for the purpose of examining the levels of authentic leadership perceptions of hospital employees and whether some of demographic factors caused significant differences in authentic leadership perceptions or not. The study includes hospital employees working in a public hospital in the province of Kırıkkale. Developed by Walumbwa et al. (2008) and adapted into Turkish by Tabak et al. (2012); the “Authentic Leadership Scale” was used in the study. The scale consists of 16 statements and 4 dimensions. These dimensions are; transparency in relations, self-awareness, internalized moral sentiment and balanced evaluation of knowledge in decision-making. The data acquired were analyzed with the SPSS 22.0. As a result of the study which was carried out with 410 participants; it was determined that the participants had “moderate levels” of authentic leadership perceptions (2,76). In addition, it was concluded that there were significant differences in authentic leadership perceptions of the employees according to the socio-demographic characteristics discussed within the scope of the study.
