Abstract

THE ROLE OF THE STATE IN THE BREAD MARKET: COMPETITION BOARD DECISIONS

Bread is one of the most basic consumption items. The tendency of bread producers to maximize their profits forces the bread market to monopolize. The distortion of perfect competition victimizes the bread consumers. In this case, state intervention in the bread market becomes legitimate. The aim of this study is to investigate the ways of direct and indirect intervention of the state in the bread market. Document review method has been used in the study, and the legislation directly related to the study has been examined in detail. It has been determined that the state intervenes in the bread market in 3 ways. Namely; bread production, price fixing and decisions to regulate imperfect competition. It has been determined that the state is effective in the bread market and that there are decisions to prevent imperfect competition.
