Abstract


EVALUATION OF THE TURKISH EDUCATION SYSTEM IN TERMS OF HEALTH KNOWLEDGE

Health is a basic necessity of life for individuals. Communities consider raising healthy individuals, as their primary goal for their future. Education has an important role in the healthy growth of individuals. Countries are striving to restructure their education systems for individuals to have the awareness of healthy living. Education systems consider raising health-conscious and healthy individuals as the main purpose and governments try to regulate the education process within this framework. Examination of preschool, primary and secondary education levels in terms of health is important as a research subject. The study aims to examine the Turkish Education System in terms of health and to make the necessary evaluations. Within this framework, the following questions were sought: 1.What are the health-related statements in the General Purpose of Turkish National Education? 2.What are the health-related statements in the purposes of Preschool Education? 3.What are the health-related statements in the aims of primary education? 4.What are the health-related statements in the aims of secondary education? 5.Primary Education a.What are the health-related lessons in the Weekly Course Schedule? b.What are the health-related statements for these courses? c.What are the units / sub-classes of these courses related to health? d.What are the health-related statements in the achievements of these courses? 6.Secondary Education a.What are the health-related lessons in the Weekly Course Schedule? b.What are the health-related statements for these courses? c.What are the health-related statements in the units / sub-learning areas of these courses? d.What are the health-related statements in the achievements of these courses? In the collection, analysis and interpretation of the data related to the research, document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. Firstly, the Basic Law of National Education, Preschool, Primary and Secondary Education Regulations were examined in terms of health-related statements. Afterward, primary and secondary education weekly schedules were examined for health-related courses; The units / sub-learning areas of the courses, aims and achievements were tried to determine health-related expressions. After the data were transferred to the tables, the results and recommendations were evaluated.
